YELLOW HAVEN is a three star (***) eco-lodge on the outskirts of Kampala, located directly at Lake Victoria in Uganda.

When the owners were on the lookout for a Dutch couple to manage their property on-site for three months, we jumped to the occasion – a bucket list item of Kisa became a reality. We promised the owners to put as much attention, love and encouragement into our ad-interim management duties as possible.

Once on the ground in Kampala, we started creating business scenarios on strategic, tactical and operational levels. With a sound belief in participative leadership, we engaged with the personnel and made them part of our improvement plans.

The property needed a lot of renovations to match our ideas of new audiences we could attract to Yellow Haven. Step by step, the property was lifted to our standards. Covid-19 still meant limited opening hours and international travellers were hardly around.

As promised to the owners, we created a strategic plan to engage local audiences, especially corporate businesses and NGO’s in Kampala. Sales went up almost instantly and team-spirit of the local staff rose.

Yellow Haven should rethink their Sales & Marketing models.

Focus on local expat markets (long-stay), national NGO’s and companies in and around Kampala (events). Define retention programs and create own events. Advice on budget – renovation, improve outdoor relaxation facilities and people management.

Cultural Affairs Officers U.S. Embassy – Kampala, Uganda

“On behalf of the U.S. Embassy in Kampala, I would like to thank the Yellow Haven Lodge for being such wonderful hosts for our Mandela Washington Fellowship debrief session.

Your hospitality exceeded our expectations, and the Fellows loved their weekend getaway on the lake. We could not imagine a better spot for this special group of young Ugandan leaders to bond and brainstorm – the creative energy of your space is helping them build a better future for Uganda.

I also want to offer a special note of gratitude to Kisa and Paul for not only being so welcoming to the group overall, but going above and beyond to meet special needs.
